The official ribbon cutting for the Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Emergency Care Center revealed a stunning new facility offering a patient experience like none in the region.
“This was a rare opportunity to change the face of emergency care. It is more than making a physical transformation. It is about creating an environment of tranquility and comfort for people at their highest stress levels,” says Dean Q. Lin, FACHE, president of Ocean Medical Center.
The medical center embarked on the ambitious project in June 2012 to meet the changing needs of the community.
The Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Emergency Care Center provides the best care in 49 private rooms, some of which are dedicated to the unique needs of those with minor injuries, pediatric and behavioral health requirements.
“We received a gift of $5 million at the onset of the project from the Hirair and Anna Hovnanian Foundation. This matching grant inspired tremendous community support to create this incredible healing environment,” said John K. Lloyd, former co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. To date, over $10 million has been raised for the new emergency department.
The Emergency Department at Ocean Medical Center, originally designed to treat 17,000 patients, now sees 51,400+ patients annually. Ranked among the best hospitals in the nation by US News and World Report, Ocean is committed to upgrading its service as the community’s premier emergency care provider.
